Where can I find ants?

Ants are household pests and are commonly found nesting near food or water sources. Ants are one of the most succesful insects in the world and can be fonud anywhere around the world.

 

Common Ants

Pavement Ants

These black ants will eat almost anything. Pavement ants have been known to consume insects, seeds, honeydew, honey, bread, meats, nuts and cheese. They forage in trails for distances of up to 30 feet and are known to climb masonry walls that enter into occupied areas. 

 

Argentine Ants

Argentine ant nests are located in moist, but not wet, areas. Indoors, they are usually near water pipes, sinks, and potted plants. Outdoors, nesting sites include under stones and boards, beneath plants, in fallen and rotting tree limbs, in tree stumps and along sidewalks

 
 

Fire Ants

Fire ants build mounds in almost any soil near structural foundations or in landscaping and prefer open sunny areas. Colonies typically construct mounds in open areas and more aggressive colonies can even push out native ant species. Fire ants are more commonly known for using their stingers when confronted.
